What we test for
Butler County Health Department screens and treats chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. HIV and hepatitis C screening are offered at the same visit. You can be tested for one thing or all of them.
Rapid HIV testing
The department contracts with Missouri DHSS to provide rapid HIV testing. You get a result at the visit rather than waiting for a lab. Anyone who tests positive is connected immediately to medical care and support services.
Find HIV infection early in people who have it
Prevent infection in people at risk
Reduce transmission from people who are infected
What it costs and who knows
Pending confirmation: BCHD to supply the current fee (or confirm no charge) and the confidentiality and partner-notification policy in plain language. This is the single biggest barrier to getting tested, and it will be answered here.
Condom distribution
Free condoms are available at distribution points across the region. The current list of locations is maintained on the department’s prevention site at condoms.fyi.
