Which years we have
Birth certificates from 1930 to the present are available here at the health department. Recording of births in Missouri began January 1, 1910. If we cannot issue yours, you can order from the Missouri Bureau of Vital Records at 930 Wildwood Drive, P.O. Box 570, Jefferson City, MO 65102, phone (573) 751-6387.
Who may receive a copy
Missouri law limits who can be issued a certified birth certificate. Direct line of descent means up to but not including cousins.
The registrant — the person named on the certificate
Immediate family and in-laws in the direct line of descent
A guardian of a child in their direct care and custody, with guardianship papers
A foster parent with custody papers
A stepparent
An attorney or authorized agent acting for the person or family
Others with a direct and tangible interest
Cousins and funeral directors cannot be issued a certified copy of a birth certificate.
