Who can get WIC

You may qualify if you are pregnant, breastfeeding a baby under one year old, have had a baby or a miscarriage in the last six months, or have a child under 5. You must live in Missouri, and you can choose to receive WIC in any county you want. If you already get MO HealthNet, SNAP, or TANF, you may automatically meet the income requirement.

Income guidelines

WIC counts everyone in your household. If you are pregnant, you may be counted as two people. Income limits change each year, so this page links to the current Missouri guidelines rather than printing a number that goes stale.

What happens at your appointment

At certification and again at six months, WIC staff measure height and weight and take a small blood sample to check for anemia. This is a nutrition check, not a physical exam.

Bring photo ID, proof of address, and proof of income for everyone in your household.

Start an application

Fill out the form below and WIC staff will call you to set up an appointment. Filling out the form does not enroll you. It gives the WIC office what they need to reach you.

Breastfeeding support

Butler County Health Department is recognized as a Breastfeeding Friendly WIC Clinic and a Breastfeeding Friendly Worksite by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

Milk Depot and Donor Milk Express

A Milk Depot is a local drop-off point for approved human milk donors. Donors approved by The Milk Bank can bring their extra breastmilk here instead of shipping it. To ask about donating or to get started, call Jentsy Philpot at (573) 785-7044.
